Many people have stopped and thought, "Where is Washington Airport?" Even though the name makes it sound like it could be anywhere, all Washington airports are in the United States of America. Because there isn't just one Washington Airport, it's a little hard to figure out. Washington, D.C., and Washington State have the most famous ones, though. Let's tell them apart so you know exactly where they are!

In Washington, D.C., There Is More Than One Big Airport That Serves The Area, And People Often Mix Them Up

The center of the United States, Washington, D.C., has a lot of airports all around it. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), which is the largest airport in the area, makes it easy to get to downtown D.C. Since most of the planes that come into this airport are within the United States, it mostly serves people going within the country.

Dulles International Airport (IAD) is the other big airport. Dulles, unlike Reagan National, is used by both domestic and foreign flights. Every day, people from other countries leave and arrive at this airport. If you're coming from another country to Washington, D.C., you'll probably land at Dulles.

Finally, you could fly into Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). It's in Baltimore, Maryland, but most people think of it as one of the main airports in Washington, D.C.

Washington State has Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), which is also known as Sea-Tac. It is on the West Coast of the United States. Millions of people visit every year; it's the state's busiest airport. It lets people get to places in the U.S. and other countries all over the country and the world.

You would have to ask someone what they mean when they say "Washington Airport" if they mean Washington, D.C., or Washington State. That being said, they are all in the same country: the United States of America!
